The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale is an applied arts college, providing bachelor's degrees, associate's degrees and diplomas in the creative fields. It was founded in 1968, and is one of 32 Art Institutes nationwide, and is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale provides students with the skills they need to pursue creative careers in the areas of design, media arts, fashion and the culinary arts. Courses are taught by industry professionals, and of all 2005 Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale graduates, 94.4% were employed in their field within six months of graduation.
Broward County Public Schools is the nation's sixth largest - and largest fully-accredited - school district. It was officially established on October 15, 1915, and is now the second largest school district in Florida. During the 2006/2007 term, the District served 262,616 students. The district covers a total of 273 institutions: 138 elementary schools, 42 middle schools, 32 high schools, 6 adult/vocational schools, 10 centers, and 45 charter schools, with one high school under construction.
